Craig Bellamy should be given the chance to become Wales' new manager, says Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock.

Former Wales striker Bellamy says he would be interested in the job, which has become available following Chris Coleman's move to Sunderland.

The 38-year-old is currently Cardiff's player development manager, working under the guidance of Warnock.

"I'd love him to get the job because I'd like to see a lad who cares like that have a go," said Warnock.

"Why not? I think it's got to be a Welshman.

"Possibly Giggsy [Ryan Giggs] will be in front of him at the moment but he [Bellamy] is passionate. You can't say he doesn't care.

"If you get an opportunity like that, you can't turn it down."
