Red Bluff >> Tehama County’s unemployment rate increased by 1 percent in June to 6.6 percent, according to data released Friday by the state Employment Development Department.

In June there were 25,680 people in the labor work force in the county. Of those, 23,990 people were employed and 1,690 people were unemployed. That’s 320 more people in the labor work force, 60 more people employed and 260 more people unemployed in June. The data are not seasonally adjusted.

Tehama County dropped four spots to 43rd from 39th out of the 58 counties in the state in unemployment.

The Northern Rural Training and Employment Consortium region of the north state, which includes Butte, Del Norte, Lassen, Nevada, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity counties, saw its unemployment rate increase by 0.7 percent to 5.8 percent for the counties combined.

The region was ranked 35th out of the 46 regions in the state, down one spot, with 307,800 in the labor work force, 289,900 people employed and 17,900 people unemployed in June.

The data show a 20 percent increase in federal government jobs in June and a decrease in other services jobs by 2.6 percent.

In California there were 19,145,700 people in the labor work force, 18,208,300 people employed and 937,400 people unemployed. That’s 84,400 more people in the labor work force, 47,400 fewer people employed and 131,800 more people unemployed in June.

The total unemployment rate for the state for June was 4.9, up 0.7 percent in a month.

In the U.S. the unemployment rate increased by 0.4 percent to 4.5 percent.

The unemployment rates for counties in the region are Butte at 6.1 percent, Shasta at 6.6 percent and Glenn County at 7.7 percent. All three counties increased by more than 1 percent in June.

The counties with the lowest unemployment rates remained San Mateo at 2.9 percent, Marin at 3.1 percent and San Francisco County at 3.2 percent in June.

The counties with the highest unemployment rates are Imperial County with 20.8 percent of the labor workforce unemployed, Colusa with 11.9 percent and Tulare County with 9.9 percent.
