Michael Bajada awarded Worker of the Year at the Ministry for GozoThe Ministry for Gozo has rewarded the skill, dedication and hard work of Gozitan workers from within the Ministry, during a ceremony held for the occasion.

The winner of the Award for Worker of the Year among all the he finalists, was Mr Michael Bajada from the Directorate for Customer Services.

The Ministry for Gozo said in a statement, that it is very aware that over time, the amount of work within the Ministry had increased, and an increased willingness in its employees is being recognised for their skills, for their work and commitment they put into their work.

The award, which was held for the first time in Gozo, is not only the commitment during working hours, but also the behaviour and character of the nominee during and after working hours, the Ministry said.

Altogether there were 48 nomination. These nominations come from among the seven Directorates, together with the Permanent Secretary’s Office, and the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

Another honour was for a person who participated in the Community Workers Scheme.

The Award for Best Employee of the Year in the Community Workers Scheme was won by Clayton Rapa.

Mr Lorry Apap, Assistant Director, won the prize within the Directorate for Projects and Development, for which there were 12 nomination.

The winner of the Worker of the Year in the Eco-Gozo Directorate was Mr Teddy Mizzi. This Directorate nominated four workers.

Dr.Angele Xerri Agius won the honour of Worker of the Year within the Programme Implementation Directorate.

The Directorate General had the largest number of nominations, 14 in total and the winner of this Directorate was Mr. Philip Domenic Sammut.

The Miss Georgina Mizzi was rewarded as the Employee of the Year for the Directorate of Corporate Services.

Mr Michael Bajada was rewarded for his work and dedication within the Directorate for Customer Services.

Mr Christopher Attard, employee in the CIO office and Ms. Karen Buttigieg in the office of the Permanent Secretary won respective awards.

The winner of the Directorate for Tourism and Economic Development was Mr Joseph Cauchi.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister Justyne Caruana encouraged workers collectively, as one team, to continue to increase the pace of momentum which is already underway and take the best decisions to realise the vision of the government for Gozo.”

The Minister for Gozo closed her speech by thanking all employees from the Ministry for Gozo and said that this Award will be continue to be an annual event for the Ministry.
