All four episodes of "A Remarkable Place to Die" can be streamed on Acorn TV, a division of AMC Networks.

The latest drama to drop on Acorn TV is a New Zealand detective series filmed on location in Queenstown. Besides the murders and interpersonal relationships, the scenery of this area of the world is amazing. “A Remarkable Place to Die” is intriguing and filled with characters that capture the imagination of viewers.

Homicide detective Anaís Mallory grew up in Queenstown, New Zealand, but after several personal disruptions in her life, she transferred to Sydney. She is back home now and determined to solve the murders as well as find out what happened to her sister Lynne the day she died.

Right off the bat, she is thrown into a murder mystery with bodies piling up and no obvious motive. It takes her cunning ability to read people’s behaviors and dissect their interviews to uncover the truth behind what happened.

While she is working hard at her job, Anaís is also dealing with personal relationships. Her mother, Veronica (Rebecca Gibney), is still grieving for her younger daughter, whose car went over a cliff a while ago, yet she cannot let go of her grief. Lynne’s room is exactly as she left it when she took that fateful drive. If she looks familiar to Acorn TV viewers, it is because Gibney recently starred in the Acorn TV series “Under the Vines.”

Veronica is dealing with the tragedies of the deaths of her daughter and husband the only way she knows how — that is to drink and take pills. But is there something deeper causing her depression? Is she hiding something from Anaís?

Anaís is also confronting her ex-fiancé Luke (Charles Jazz Terrier), who married her now ex-best friend Maja (Indiana Evans) a year after she broke off their engagement and moved to Sydney. Now she must interact with the couple while dealing with her own emotions. And, as she investigates the murders, Anaís is suspicious about Luke.

There are things going on behind the scenes and Anaís is determined to find out what happened to her father and her sister. Something is not right in this picturesque town. The two years she was away has changed the people, and that gives this instinctive detective cause for suspicion.

Among the co-stars in the series are Matt Whelan as detective Simon Delaney and Alex Tarrant as Ihaka, the pathologist who skillfully conducts the postmortems.

This is an interesting show that from the first scene captures the attention of viewers as they are introduced not only to the characters and the storylines but also the landscape of Queenstown, New Zealand. This unique setting is a stunning backdrop to this series that is steeped in murders and mysteries.

“A Remarkable Place to Die” is a must-see for fans of murder mysteries, adding to the roster of dramas on Acorn TV.

All four episodes can be streamed on Acorn TV, a division of AMC Networks.
