The Western Area District Council (WARD-C) has officially launched the construction of the road leading to River Number 2 Beach. The event, held on March 11, 2025, was led by Chairman Kasho J. Holland-Cole and Chief Administrator Festus Kallay.
Chairman Holland-Cole highlighted the importance of upgrading the beach area and announced that the 2 million New Leones needed for the project has been funded through gate collections since 2024. The Demco Construction Company will execute the project.
He urged community members to take ownership of the initiative and emphasized transparency by creating a revenue account with community representatives as signatories. Plans for additional developments, including a car wash and solar lighting, were also discussed, aiming to create job opportunities for local youth.
Chief Administrator Kallay affirmed the council’s commitment to infrastructure development and assured residents that construction would begin within the week. Community stakeholders expressed their support for the initiative, which comes in light of recent concerns over a new entry fee and the poor road conditions leading to the beach.
