1. Maine | Index Score: 69.62

With an index score of 69.62, Maine is named as the top state to work in. Alongside its strong economic growth, workers in Maine enjoy more free time than those in other states while working 39.2 hours per week. The state is also home to inclusive, welcoming communities living with a stunning coastline backdrop. 

2. Washington | Index Score: 64.26
