Thousands of people have already applied through the South Mississippi Housing Authority’s online service.

COLLINS, Miss. (WDAM) - The South Mississippi Housing Authority is helping families find housing after tornadoes on March 15 displaced some Collins residents.

Representatives will be at the Hot Coffee Community Center (1859 Hwy 532, Collins) to help displaced residents with the process of applying for housing assistance.

The following documents, if applicable, are required to process an application:

  • Last two check stubs from the employer of anyone in the household over 18
  • Twelve-month printout from child support
  • Current Bank Statement
  • Retirement Pension/VA Pension
  • Current Verification of Unemployment/Workman’s Comp
  • Marriage License/Divorce Decree/Separation Notice
  • Picture ID for those 18 and older, Birth Certificate, Social Security Cards
  • Current proof of full-time student status

Those seeking assistance can stop by anytime from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, through Friday, March 28.
