April events in the Poconos: History, egg hunts, job fair, more | Kulick
Here we are, April already! The month of showers to bring flowers, or so they say. I am personally looking forward to warmer temps and sunshine. The month ahead has all the elements of spring to make it busy as the season changes.
Beginning on April 1, Monroe County will celebrate Founders' Day with an open house for the newly remodeled county courthouse and addition. At 10 a.m., Amy Leiser, executive director of the Monroe County Historical Association, will give a slide presentation on the History of Monroe County in one of the Courtrooms. Among other activities planned, tours will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At noon, a musical performance will be provided by the Pocono Mountain East Banner Singers and remarks by President Judge Art Zulick about the history of the courthouse. Following, the Monroe County Keystone for the America250PA semiquincentennial celebration will be unveiled.
April 3 offers some diverse opportunities. At 10 a.m., the draft 2025 Monroe County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan will be conducted at Northampton Community college. The Hughes Library (1002 N. 9th St., Stroudsburg) offers two programs. Creating a Hummingbird Haven: Guest Talk with Master Gardner will be held at 11:30 a.m. and it will offer a Financial Education series each Thursday as part of Financial Literacy Month, beginning on April 3. Four topics to be covered, staring with Budgeting Basics, Auto Buying 101 (4/10), Managing Credit (4/17) and Homebuyer Education (4/24). April 6, join Monroe County Children and Youth and Pocono Township for their Community Egg Hunt in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month (112 Township Drive, Tannersville). The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. with an egg hunt, food trucks, craft vendors and more.
Also on April 6, Hughes Library is showing the movie "Conclave" at 2 p.m. as part of its Words & Film Sunday Matinee.
Heads up EMS providers: On April, 10 LVH-Pocono EMS Continuing Education programing is being held at the EMS Learning Institute at 6:30 p.m. (2 Storm St., Stroudsburg). The topic will be Crime Scene Do’s and Don’ts & Gift of Life Overview. To register, contact steven.kulick@lvhn.org.

On April 12, an Earth Day Art Exhibition, “A Voice For The Earth: Artist Interpretations” will be held at the Historic Castle Inn in Delaware Water Gap with an artist’s reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Commission sales benefit the Pocono Center for the Arts. April 12, Pocono Community Day will be held at the Northampton Community College Pocono Campus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a family friendly event with interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities for kids including an Easter egg hunt and touch-a-truck. Bring a non-perishable item to donate to NCC’s food pantry for a chance to win a prize. More information: nccgo.cc/community-day. From 8:45 to noon, April 12, the Annual River Road Clean-up will take place in Shawnee-on-Delaware. To participate, report to the Pavillion on the Grand Lawn of Shawnee Inn by 8:45 a.m. Clean-up supplies are provided as well as a continental breakfast before and lunch after. Finally, a special job fair for people with disabilities will be held on April 29 from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. at Burnley Workshop (4219 Manor Drive, Stroudsburg).
