On this day in 2020, the Telegraph & Argus reported that a woman from Cottingley was hoping to be on a rescue flight back from Peru that week after being stranded due to the country's lockdown.

The then-33-year-old had been stuck in the capital, Lima, for a week.

It was announced that three more repatriation flights for British travellers had been chartered by the Foreign Office.

The woman, Becky, said at the time: "We are waiting patiently for confirmation of the next flights, but comms are very limited.

"Keeping an eye on Flight Radar for any Lima-bound flights leaving Heathrow - that's how we all found out that one was coming last time!

"First flight went back with the vulnerable on Wednesday; it seemed a bit messy as people only had an hour to confirm their seat by email (they were informed of their places by email too), and there were some people who weren't contacted but then told on the day that they should have been on the plane, so missed their flights!

"My dad has just been contacted by the NHS too as he now has to isolate for 12 weeks - so hoping I can get home as soon as possible to help them.

"My partner (who didn't travel with me) is stuck at home and feeling poorly with a persistent dry cough, so possible he has the virus!

"It's all a bit mad."
