U.S. military strikes ISIS targets in Somalia’s Puntland Region
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The United States military conducted on Saturday an airstrike against ISIS targets in the Puntland region of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) said.
The airstrike, carried out in coordination with the Somali government, resulted in the elimination of multiple ISIS operatives.
AFRICOM confirmed that the strike targeted several ISIS positions in southeastern Bosasso, Puntland, in northeastern Somalia.
This operation follows a previous airstrike in February, in which AFRICOM announced the killing of a senior ISIS leader in the mountainous areas of Bari province, also in northeastern Somalia.
