Ever since his retirement, a series of stars have been compared to MJ, most notably Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

And college basketball star Cooper Flagg is the latest name to be thrown in the hat.

Flagg, 18, is the NCAA's brightest star thanks to some magnificent displays with Duke this season and is highly likely to end up becoming the NBA's highest draft pick.

Barkley, 62, joined the The Dan Patrick Show and was asked about the shooting guard's rise to prominence.

Patrick asked: "Who do you see when you look at Cooper Flagg?”

Barkley insisted that although Flagg is beaming with talent, he still has a long way to go.

The Philadelphia 76ers legend is adamant that there should be no comparisons to other icons, especially with Jordan.

The ex-Pheonix Suns star pointed back at countless other comparisons with his fellow great that led to promising talent cracking under pressure and ending up in total obscurity.

Barkley answered: "I see Cooper Flagg. I see he’s a terrific young player, he looks amazing on television, can’t wait to see him in the NBA.

"I hate doing that. I hate when guys on television try to compare. First of all, to say he’s already somebody in the NBA is being unfair to that person in the NBA.

“I think we do a disservice to a lot of these guys. Like, I think Michael Jordan has killed more people than the plague.

"You know, ‘This guy is the next Michael Jordan’. You don’t turn out to be Michael Jordan.”
