Beth Ann Murphy Haukom

Beth Haukom, 64, was born on February 26, 1961. Following several strokes, she passed peacefully at her home in Mobile, Alabama on March 4, 2025 with her beloved dog, Jackson, at her side.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Ascension Funeral, 1016 Hillcrest Rd, Mobile, Alabama 36695. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral at 10:30 am. Beth grew up on the Mississippi River in Warsaw, Illinois and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1979. She was active in Wildcats Girl’s Basketball. Following high school, she attended Quincy University and graduated with a certificate in Fashion Merchandising. After a year working with her parents in their retail stores, she moved to Des Moines, Iowa and sold carpet and rugs for Younker’s Store for Homes. She then served as hospitality manager for Robert’s River Rides in Dubuque, Iowa and obtained her riverboat pilot’s license. Never a fan of Midwest winters, she relocated to Waveland, Mississippi on the Gulf Coast where she managed fine dining restaurants for Casino Magic and Grand Casino. When Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, Beth saved 14 neighbors and numerous house pets from the 10-foot storm surge by opening her 2-story home, which was the only 2-story on her street. With her home and belongings destroyed and the casino restaurants closed, Beth felt fortunate to obtain a small FEMA trailer and secure employment with Pilot in Mobile, Alabama where she eventually bought a house. She worked as a catastrophe claims adjuster for Pilot until she retired. Beth loved spending time with family and friends, her dogs and cats, cooking, grilling, and entertaining.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Marybeth Reedy and R.C. (Dick) Murphy; her sister, Lisa LaBonte; and husbands Mark Baldwin and Bradley M. Haukom. Those left missing her are her sisters and brother-in-law, Devon Murphy-Petersen, and Dawn and Pete Tripp, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
