As I push toward old age, I have definitely noticed a slowing down in the area of brain function. Hopefully, this is just part of the natural aging process and not some warning that I’m on the express train to full-blown Joe Biden-like dementia. However, when I do really dumb stuff like call one of my grandchildren “Lucy,” which is my dog’s name, or spend an hour searching the house for reading glasses that are on the top of my head, or get in my car and then have to think, “Where was I heading?” then it really starts to make me wonder.

To make me feel better about my own cognitive decline, I like to tell myself that part of the reason that I struggle is that I am trying to juggle too many potential column thoughts in my head. I know this is a reasonably lame excuse, but let’s run with it anyway and let’s try and unload some of those scattered column thoughts today.
