Dublin Airport launches new noise information portal for the public
Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport operator DAA has launched a new noise information portal for the local community.
The interactive online tool will provide information about flights to and from the airport and how they may affect the local community.
The portal combines location-specific data with user-friendly dashboards, which will help members of the public living close to Dublin Airport to analyse the noise above their homes.
DAA CEO Kenny Jacobs said: "We know that airport operations impact the community around us and we take that seriously. We have to strike a balance between operating a major international airport and ensuring Ireland has the connectivity it needs, with the needs of those living close to the airport.

"That’s always going to be difficult, but we are constantly working to minimise the impact and listen to community feedback.”
The tool relies on technology used in 25 airports worldwide such as Gatwick and Toronto Pearson. Users will be able to get a detailed analysis of the noise situation at their location, offering insight into noise levels and the potential to compare with other locations.
The operator has spent more than €20 million to date on noise-mitigation measures. This includes providing a voluntary buy-out option to several homeowners close to the airport, offering a 30pc premium on current market value along with additional reimbursements.
The cost of insulation has been covered for other houses along with the instalment of noise monitors, insulation works at local schools and penalising older, noisier planes that use Dublin airport.
The airport operator also supports community groups through its €10 million Dublin Airport Community Fund, which distributed €500,000 to more than 100 local groups last year and will do so again in 2025.
Mr Jacobs said: “We are committed to being good neighbours and to contributing positively to the community through the jobs and economic impact we create and by listening to community concerns.”
Independent research conducted for DAA by Red C in 2024 showed community sentiment towards Dublin Airport is generally very positive. There is support for the expansion of Dublin Airport among local residents, with nearly 80pc of respondents approving.
Mr Jacobs said: “Our 2024 community survey showed strong support for the airport, but highlighted people want more transparency, openness, and access to information. By providing accurate and timely information online, we can continue to build stronger relationships with our neighbours and address their concerns more effectively.”
