ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) โ Concord University is heading into a packed week full of music, celebration, career opportunities, and awareness efforts.
Kicking things off, the Concord University Choirs will present their annual spring concert, Americana: A Celebration of American Composers, on Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m. in the Alexander Fine Arts Buildingโs Main Auditorium.
The concert will feature music by iconic American composers such as Leonard Bernstein, Irving Berlin, and Jason Robert Brown. Admission is free, though donations will be accepted.
On Monday, April 14, the university will celebrate a major academic achievement as its Physician Assistant Program has officially received accreditation from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
With this recognition, Concord joins the ranks of 312 accredited PA programs across the U.S. To mark the occasion, a celebration with cake will take place from noon to 2 p.m. in the Alexander Fine Arts Lobby.
The campus community and local media are invited to attend.
Concordโs Spring Career Fair and Teacher Recruitment Day follows on Wednesday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Jean & Jerry L. Beasley Student Center Ballroom.
The event will connect students with employers offering internships, externships, and job opportunitiesโespecially for graduating seniors.
On Thursday, April 17, the university will participate in Paint CU Teal Day as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
Concordโs Sexual Assault Response Team encourages students, staff, and faculty to wear teal or paint a nail teal to show support for survivors of sexual violence.
A presentation will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Student Center State Room, and tables with supplies will be set up around campus.
Participants are encouraged to share photos with the hashtag #PaintCUTeal.
That evening, the West Virginia Dance Company will bring its touring performance to campus at 6 p.m. in the Alexander Fine Arts Center Main Theater.
The show will feature new works by four choreographers and two original music compositions.
Wrapping up the week, the 16th Annual Undergraduate Research Day and Graduate & Professional School Fair will take place Friday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Beasley Student Center.
Dr. James Ingram, assistant professor at Northern Arizona University, will deliver the keynote address from noon to 1 p.m. His research focuses on sex education and development for young adults with intellectual disabilities.
