Lithuania intends to allocate 20 million euros to Ukraine for the purchase of ammunition, Defence Minister Dovilė Šakalienė says.

“And the summer may be very difficult. Therefore, we need to push forward our support. For example, Lithuania is going to add additional 20 million euros for ammo acquisition, because this is one of the things that Ukraine really needs right now,” she told reporters in Brussels ahead of a meeting of the Ukrainian Defence Contact Group at NATO headquarters on Friday.

Last June, Lithuania’s State Defence Council agreed to allocate at least 0.25 percent of the country’s GDP in military aid to Ukraine each year.

Lithuania has provided Ukraine with military aid worth around 800 million euros since the start of the war. Lithuania’s total long-term support to Ukraine has exceeded 1.5 billion euros.
