Two more men have been charged with murder after a shooting in Stanley.
Barry Dawson, 60, died after being shot through a downstairs window on Elm Street, South Moor, in Stanley on Saturday, April 5. A warrant was issued for Sean Reay, of Stanley, following the death of Mr Dawson and he was arrested in Northern Ireland on Friday.
Mr Reay was arrested by Police Service of Northern Ireland officers and transported back to Durham. The 29-year-old remains in custody and will appear at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 14.
Keith Edward Dorward, also known as Keith Edward Lax, was also arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday, April 10 and charged last night with the offence.
The 47-year-old, of Stanley, is expected to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 14.
It comes after Kelvin Craig Lawson appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on Saturday charged with murder. The 37-year-old, of Stanley, entered no pleas and was remanded into custody. He is due to appear at Teesside Crown Court on Monday, April 14.
On Friday, April 11, two other people charged with murder, appeared at crown and magistrates court respectively. Kevin Dorward, 38, appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Friday facing charges in connection with the fatal shooting.
Thomas Lee Sterling appeared at Peterlee Magistrates' Court on the same charge. The 21-year-old, of Stanley, did not enter any pleas and was remanded into custody. He will appear at Teesside Crown Court on Monday.
Michaela Hetherington, 35, of Annfield Plain, also faces a charge of perverting the course of justice.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Neil Fuller said: "We are not looking for anyone else in connection with Mr Dawson’s death and want to thank the community for their continued support while our extensive enquiries were carried out.
"We appreciate the patience and support residents have given us as officers have worked around-the-clock on our investigation."
