According to the note published on Sunday on the official website of the Russian diplomatic body, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the Antalya 2025 Diplomatic Forum in Türkiye. The parties discussed the situation in Sudan, stressing the prospects for a political and military settlement to the crisis in the country.
The Russian Foreign Ministry commented that “Moscow urged to put an end to the armed confrontation between the units of the regular army and the Rapid Support Forces, to launch a broad national dialogue and to establish a lasting peace in Sudan”.
The two heads of diplomacy also discussed the development of Russian-Sudanese cooperation in various areas and voiced support for political dialogue and coordination at the UN and other international platforms, the Foreign Ministry noted in its statement.
For two years, fighting has been raging in Sudan between the Rapid Support Forces, under the command of Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, and the regular army, led by General Abdel Fattah al Burhan, chairman of the Sovereign Transitional Council.
In recent months, the regular army has carried out an offensive against its enemy’s positions in the capital Khartoum, and in several provinces.
