AFTER A FOUR MONTH STING, OFFICERS OBTAINED A SEARCH WARRANT TO SEARCH WALKER’S RESIDENCE ON FUTRALL ROAD. OFFICERS FOUND JUST OVER 95 GRAMS OF MARIJUANA, 40 XANAX PILLS, ZIPLOC BAGGIES, A DIGITAL SCALE, AND A LOADED AR-15 RIFLE. WALKER WAS CHARGED WITH DELIVERY AND POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA WITH INTENT TO DELIVER. POSSESSION OF XANAX WITH INTENT TO DELIVER. SIMULTANEOUS POSSESSION OF DRUGS AND FIREARMS. AND POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA. WALKER, WHO WORE NUMBER 33, WAS A BACKUP LINEBACKER, PLAYED IN ALL 12 GAMES AS A SOPHOMORE AND ONLY RECORDED 17 TACKLES. THE UNIVERSITY RELEASED TH STATEMENT THIS AFTERNOON SAYING, "WE ARE AWARE OF CHARGES INVOLVING DEMETRIUS WALKER. THE STUDENT-ATHLETE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED FROM OUR FOOTBALL PROGRAM INDEFINITELY, AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE SITUATION AND COOPERATE FULLY WITH ANY RELATED LEGAL AND CAMPUS PROCESSES." A POLICE REPORT INDICATES THAT CONFIDENTIAL INFORMANT HAD BEEN BUYING DRUGS FROM WALKER OVER THE LAST FOUR MONTHS. WALKER WAS BOOKED LAST

A University of Arkansas linebacker is arrested on felony drug charges. According to Fayetteville Police, Demetrius Walker was taken into custody Wednesday night. Police say a search warrant for his home revealed he had over 95 grams of marijuana, 40 Xanax pills and a loaded AR 15 Rifle. The following is a statement from the University of Arkansas Department of Intercollegiate Athletics: “We are aware of charges involving Demetrius Walker, a student-athlete on our football team. The student-athlete has been suspended from our football program indefinitely, and we will continue to monitor the situation and cooperate fully with any related legal and campus processes. Our continued expectation is that our student-athletes conduct themselves and represent the University of Arkansas in an appropriate manner at all times.”Walker is currently being held in the Washington County Jail.
