OXEDOS Street Grub, 'The Compassionate Campus Food Truck'; Program Supports Pine Street Inn

/EINPresswire.com/ BOSTON, Mass - The food truck revolution is rolling onto college campuses throughout New England with delicious "street food" and a mission of giving back. A new program by Sodexo, OXEDOS Street Grub travels to college campuses in Greater Boston and throughout the New England region donating a portion of its sales to hunger issues in communities in which the food truck operates.

The concept launched at Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts this spring.

This fall OXEDOS Street Grub will begin the new semester with campus routes that include Stonehill College, Endicott College, UMass Boston, Bridgewater State University and Bentley University. In addition, the truck will be used for special events on campus, football tailgates, and homecoming.

OXEDOS, (Sodexo spelled backward), offers students and faculty distinctive lunch menus featuring sustainable and locally sourced ingredients. Options include an 'All-American Grilled Cheese,' 'Beantown Grilled Cheese,' 'South End Fenway Frank' and a 'Korean BBQ,' an Asian-style wrap sandwich that features pulled pork. The truck will continue it street grub menu from Boston, NY and Philly, launching local specials in the upcoming season.

"Food trucks traditionally serve larger campuses. We are introducing OXEDOS Street Grub as a regional solution to bring that large campus amenity to small and midsize campuses as well," said Rush Sherman, Vice President of Campus Services for the New England Region. "It provides an exciting option for delivering new foods and flavors and new points of service that enhance the student experience."

Pine Street Inn was selected as a primary recipient of donations by OXEDOS Street Grub. Sodexo, a longtime community partner has contributed resources—both financial and human— to this organization for over 25 years.

Pine Street Inn serves over 1,300 individuals a day and 10,000 unique individuals each year. From emergency shelter, needs assessment and case management, to job training and placement in permanent supportive housing, Pine Street Inn provides short- and long-term remedies to end the experience of homelessness.

From preparing meals to providing culinary training, OXEDOS Street Grub and Sodexo employees regularly volunteer their time and skills to Pine Street Inn as 'food services training' is a key program for its workforce development program. The program engenders practical skills and job readiness and provides placement assistance to help homeless and low-income individuals re-enter the workforce or move onto additional training or educational opportunities.
